The fort, made by the Mughal king, is also one of the oldest structures in Delhi. The fort was built on the bank of river Yamuna. There are stories that water collected from the well here used to turn black and the demons used to hide in the walls. It is believed that this stepwell was Commissioned by King Agrasen around 3000 B.C. and recent archeological surveys shows that this step-well was largely rebuilt in the 14th century by the Agarwal community.
