The fort of Siri in Delhi was made on the orders of Allauddin Khilji to defend the city from the attacks of Mongols. The fort was built between 1297 to 1307. Darul Khilafat is also a name of Siri. The fort of Siri was made by stones and bricks to make it strong. There are seven gates in Siri and according to some research the fort is built up on the head of 8000 soldiers of Mongol that lost their lives during the war, that is why it is called Siri. The siri fort is now seen in ruins.

History of Siri Fort

Alauddin Khilji laid the establishment of the 2nd city in Delhi- Siri, amid 1297 and 1307. The development of Siri fort was begun in 1303 and it was built to protect against the Mongol attacks. Other than the war, the fortification moreover served as the central situate of control amid Khilji’s campaigns. Architecture of the Fort

How to reach Siri Fort

The nearest bus station to the Siri fort is the Kamla Nehru college bus station and if you are travelling from metro the nearest metro stations are South extension and Moolchand Metro. South extension Metro Station is just 9 mins
away from the Siri fort you can take a rickshaw or walk from there. The fort opens on seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. No entry fees for the entrance of the fort.
